Indiana Landmarks played an instrumental role in saving the West Baden Springs Hotel, a ruin when we bought it in and recruited the Cook family of Bloomington who performed an award-winning feat of restoration. We continue to provide tours in both hotels. In addition to the ongoing tours of each hotel, we offer Twilight Tours, and a tour combined with Wednesday afternoon tea in the domed atrium a grand hotel tradition.
French Lick & West Baden Springs Hotel Tours
In November , the French Lick Resort Casino , the state's tenth casino in the modern legalized era, opened, drawing national attention to the small town. However, it is best known as the hometown of basketball legend Larry Bird. French Lick was originally a French trading post built near a spring and salt lick. A fortified ranger post was established near the springs in On Johnson's map of Indiana, the community was known as Salt Spring.
